July Giveaway - Hidden Treasure: Finding God in Unexpected Places by Gladys Acuña Guitz

The July giveaway book is a favorite of mine: Many of you know that I spent part of my growing-up years as a missionary kid in Guatemala. July's giveaway book is written by one of my Guatemalan "tías" (aunts) who has been a part of my story since as long as I can remember. Hidden Treasure: Finding God in Unexpected Places shares the story of Gladys Acuña Guitz who was one of the founders of a ministry to people living and working in a garbage dump in Guatemala City. I think this book is timely because with everything going on in the world, we need reminders that even in really hard and unexpected places God is working. For Gladys, some of hard places include her mother passing away when Gladys was 15, not being able to have her own children, and the heartbreaks that come with ministry.

Another reason I'm happy to be featuring Gladys's book as this month's giveaway is that she is kind of an example of a real Miss Mary. As she is growing older, Gladys is still doing what she can. I deeply appreciate her heart to share what the Lord has done as a testimony and encouragement to future generations.
