In the month of December, we will be giving away 3 items!
The Candle in the Window is a radio theatre production of Lamplighter Theatre. Those familiar
with Lamplighter know that it creates radio theatre dramas with high quality with the help of professionals like those behind a good number of the beloved children's program Adventures in Odyssey. In The Candle in the Window, a country mailman figures out a way to bring a little Christmas cheer to those along his route including a single-parent family with a developmentally-delayed child and the teacher of the local school. The world is engulfed in WWI and, even though the battles are being fought an ocean away, the need for hope and help is still deep. Miss Mary would have this story on her shelf because of the multigenerational relationships that blossom and the picture of a simple act of kindness bringing such sweet results - much like in her own story. Personally, this is one of my favorite Christmas stories. (Note: This is a deep story, and I wouldn't recommend it for super young listeners.) The second giveaway is What Can You Do, South America? by Dr. Scott Hardin. (Yes, the author is a relative of mine!) This board book features animals from South America and amazing things they can do with engaging illustrations. Grown-ups learn from this book, too! The journey of discovery wraps up with a reminder of how special people are to the Lord and a sharing of the Gospel. Miss Mary would have this story on her shelf because it's a book little ones and big ones can enjoy together and because of the message it shares...and she would probably have a few on hand to give for Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers for those who may be around her fire this Christmas.
